Also, today is the year since we came here!
Yeah, one year anniversary..
It was interesting year, full of unexpected good things and sad things, but we are staying alive!
Yeah, I have no new demo for today, cuz my lazy ass didn't done Ocean Wind :\
But I have some screenshots! We are cooking some new stuff, but I'm not sure when next demo will out.. maybe at next shc?

As you can see, I lied, that it will be based on concepts.. we want to make it better than beta, and this is why we want to make something new. We also sometimes use old fan theories/hoaxes as reference, if we don't know something (This is why SSZ boss looks like pyramid and WZ boss uses circular saws), and ofcource- new ideas. Somebody will thing this is good, somebody will think it's a bad, but I hope you'll like it.

Also, using the chance I want to say thanks to people who was with us, but left, almostly because of me;
Toxic Foxtrot, Kat/JayKuriN and DeltaWooloo. Sorry if I offended you.

To everyone else- I want to say: Happy new year! Let this year will be better to all of us.

Hello, I just wanted to tell you that I really love the Sonic 2 Archives project, and I really like how everything is turning out.

Even at last year's SHC I had voted you for best hack, and well, I even told you that I grew up with Sonic 2 beta.

I hope to see more as time goes by, excellent work.

 

Will there still be a Medieval era?

 

"Medieval" was just a bad translation of "past"/"ancient" era, so, no. Sorry

But we will anyway have a Mountain Madness zone somewhere

 

What about Emerald Isle/Aquatic Ruin & Mystic Cave? Also are there 2 past eras in this hack or is there only 1?

 

Mystic Cave is Dust Hill Zone

 

Madness Mountain likely evolved into Dust Hill Zone, when then became Mystic Cave Zone, so I hope that's what you go for.

What do you mean? Mystic Cave is called Dust Hill in MULTIPLE prototypes. And we know the desert level is Sand Shower.

 

On the topic of which Tails to use, couldn't you make a toggle for it so people can choose between brown and orange?

I'm pretty sure (DO NOT TAKE THIS AS FACT THIS IS PURELY SPECULATION) that the team had added a zone id that correlated to dust hill zone in the level select as a blank zone (like death egg in simon wai), but it was decided that dust hill zone was to be scrapped before any work was actually done. When Mystic Cave started to be developed, the STI member just used the empty slot instead of creating a whole new level id, and no one changed the level select until later in development.

 

Jeez Early Brown and Final Tails are tied this is gonna be a close poll

 

That's not a bad theory... If it wasn't confirmed that Sand Shower was implemented into a build of the game for testing purposes, which would be in its slot. It got a bit along before they decided to cut it for not fitting with the more speedy pace of Sonic 2.

 

We've been assuming that these black structures in Madness Mountain are pine trees in most recreations, but I wonder if this was the construction near the haunted house that was revered to in an interview with Masato Nakamura.




Also, is Fire mountain going to be in this hack?

Also, as a suggestion, I think Ocean Wind should have pine trees rather than palm trees. that should help differentiate between it, Green Hill, Blue Ocean, and Tropical Plant/Sun/Summer, as those three zones all have palm trees.

 

nice hack! i would even go so far as to call it the true version of sonic 2!
