"Unsupported"? What you're looking for doesn't even exist! The sentiment behind "Well, SonED2 supports Sonic 1 and 2, and so does the original SonED, so that, combined with the similar name, must mean that it also supports Sonic 3!" is utterly ridiculous. They are two entirely different programs and are capable of entirely different things.

What you are talking about was a personal viewer - that's it. I made it ONLY to double-check my work on the S&K disassembly, and it was rigged to barely work - SonED2 was not built such that it could fully and properly support Sonic 3 in the same way as it did Sonic 1 and 2. It doesn't even save at all! Good luck trying to make it, there is no code whatsoever to handle it!

Furthermore, the last time I touched it before the last public release was January 16th, 2006, when I made a private announcement about the disassembly project, and how I was putting it on hold until either I got some help with an issue I ran into (which had an entire year to happen, but never did to any extent, even though the issue turned out to be trivial and would probably have been easily noticed by someone fresh into the project rather than someone like myself who was biased as to what to look into and what not to bother with), or I had the time and drive to get to the root of the problem and finish it myself. The last public release of SonED2 was built on September 1st, 2006, nearly EIGHT MONTHS after-the-fact, and was a quick-fix to a major issue with Sonic 1 object management because of a sudden explosion of interest in editing the game. Rather than hold off a fix any longer, I decided to make an immediate release so everyone could get things working, and the normally inaccessible remnants of a project I had all-but-abandoned was one of the farthest things from my mind. If you want to call me "stupid" for trying to help, I'll just have to think twice about it next time.

Well all I had to go on was a mixture of a screenshot of AIZ open in SonED2 from ages ago, and Tweaker's post.

Of course no one suggested that at any moment in this topic. There were people saying you could open savestates in SonED 1 but no mention of there being some sort of hidden connection between that facility in SonED1 and the split reading facility in SonED2.

I see, well thats a shame. Thank you for at least coming here and clarifying that for everyone though. However it does go against what a couple of other members (who are far more informed in this area than I am) have said so it'll be interesting to hear their feedback.

    Heh.

    Sounds fair enough.

Now come on, I didn't mean to call you stupid because you clearly aren't, that comment was more directed towards the secretive attitude towards the feature rather than you personally. I just thought the fact it was present but sort of hidden seemed strange, given the clarification from you however it makes a lot more sense, and I apologize for any percieved ill-will and ignorance on my part.

Also you should drop by here more often, hopefully under slightly less dramatic circumstances next time :)

That's what I was told when I first heard about this being dug up. He got "lucky" based on ill-conceived "logic", and that's extremely annoying, as were the included claims of it being any kind of "support", and how "improper" it was

I agree, considering I remember this thoroughly and have even tested it again prior to my first post. Would you mind telling me what any of those things were? If they are as simple as being able to manipulate some things in the editor, that's a natural side-effect of shoving things into the same arrays and structures I use to display and manipulate things from Sonic 1 and 2. Being able to do any less would have made using SonED2 as a base almost entirely pointless

Slightly off topic, before my laptop fucked up I was working on cleaning up the Sonic 2 Nick Arcade disassembly, which will hopefully be piss easy to set up in SonED2, though I will need to change some stuff for it to work (for some odd reason GHZ didn't work, not even with the GHZ art data combined).

Just saying, nothing impressive. My batch file doesn't even work right on this computer though, so it's sadly on hold.

SonED2 does not support S3K level editing.

Edit: Not meaning to mod but this topic is quite old :p.
