Just FYI, in order not to clash with this too much, I'll alter the schedule of the 18th Round of the SMPS Competition accordingly.

Ah, that unnamed entry, you can remove it from the list, I just tested the "Add New Entry" option and didn't figure on how to delete it. :p

Also what happened to Sonic 2: Retro Remix these years? D:

I dunno, it's too late for me to start something technical now. I'd have at least started a decent layout/palette hack now with minor ASM modifications, but the SHC rules say "No.". =P

No, the rules are essentially "no stupid hacks" and "no just editing one thing only hacks". :p A decent palette + layout change with minor ASM hack would be just fine, as it's changing multiple things with a purpose.

What? Where? If this is the case, then my hack can just be thrown out. The rules state the following:

    1. No simple palette hacks with nothing else changed.
    2. No simple level layout hacks with nothing else changed.
    3. No joke hacks; only serious entries this year.
No where does it say that decent layout and palette hacks aren't allowed. Hell, you could even drop the minor ASM and just submit a palette/layout hack and that should be acceptable. I also think this applies more to those hacks that change GHZ1's layout and that's it or change a few palettes and leave the rest the same.

Besides, I'd love to see more hacks where the layout being new is the main change and I know a lot of other people would too.

Lots of these entries sound pretty epic, I'm going to try to enter something up next year seeing how I missed the deadline. Ah well I had nothing finished anyways. Good luck to those who have entered and I can't wait to play the public entries. :)

Just a reminder that you have until this Thursday at 7AM BST to update your entries. If your entry is incomplete and is not switched to Public or Partial Private by then, your entry will not be judged.

You have 12 hours remaining to update your entry. After that, no further uploads will be permitted and any entries remaining as Incomplete will not be judged or included in the contest.

The last part is important as there are 11 entries at this time of post that have been marked as Incomplete. So change your entry to Public or Partial Private before the deadline!

Also worth noting is that all entries must be playable by the judges. There has been an entry which redirects to the Sega Screen after pressing Start on the Title Screen as a deliberate attempt to stop judges from playing the game until a further update is made, so make sure that you have a working update before the deadline.

Oh and watch this. See you next week!

Indeed. Get them ready. Hell, I'm getting my hack ready for tonight.

But also, yeah. Don't do that. If you're gonna place a build in, make it playable. Don't do that bullshit. This opportunity is to allow for people to update their build of their hack, but still an opportunity for us the judges to take a look at the hack and start forming some opinions. There shouldn't be some asston of changes between your initial upload to your final build.

This goes for everybody, don't do that. We the judges have lives, and there are other things we could be doing besides waiting till tomorrow to play you final build. I remember people bitching about how long it takes the judges to judge hacks. Well, if you do things like that, it only adds more time for us to do our jobs.

That being said, nobody has judged any entries right now as they will judge the last update you submit. I have looked at a few entries but that's it.

Judges have a deadline of their own to have submissions looked at and trophies allocated, the results will be announced live on Sunday 18th August.

Indeed. Nobody has judged any hacks, but like I said, it's nice to have opinions formed. We have a job to do, and that is to judge everybody's hacks. If we have to wait a week just to get a build that we can even begin to get an idea about, then that's a week lost. That's why we like to have hacks that are playable by the initial deadline. There's also the whole, "we don't want to get bitched at" by everybody. Not gonna lie, I don't like getting bitched at for not getting shit done in time.

Well, that was rather close. My laptop's power cord literally started smoking, so I used the very last of my battery charge to finish and upload the fixed build.
