Ok, why is no-one here to comment on this hack? because sir...

I'd like to shake your fucking hand with brilliance, because the layout and object placement in your hack is SPOT ON! The way the chunks actually "look" like they fit together and the objects are placed in clever spots, I can see you've created unique chunks here and there and even those fit with the rest of the level, there aren't too many objects but there isn't a lack of them either, which is just damn right perfect! No lag, but lots of fun, why other hacks on this site cannot have the same layout structure as yours I'll never know.

The design is another thing I'm impressed with, LZ in particular, it's one of those water level ruin zones a lot of us have been waiting for, such attention to detail and fabulously done with perfectly selected colours to boot, one thing I would like to point out though is that light blue diagonal pannel thing I was expecting it to look "behind" sonic rather than "infront", but that's a minor request =P Also act 1 crashed in Kega, I'm assuming this is due to an object's programming somewhere, but who cares, I'm far too impressed to care. MZ, while the FG is easy come easy go, the BG is very decent and pleasing, I found the lower part of the BG to be simple yet impressive too, nice going! SLZ from the screenshot you showed was a bit of a disappointment, but after seeing those clouds in-game, I found it to be fun looking, though the FG could do with a bit of sprucing up.

SYZ had a unique touch, nice dithering on the windmills by the way, while parts look odd, they seem nice to look at, SBZ has a really odd design, but not one that looks terrible, it's futuristic design is pretty damn cool and the city look you gave act 2 in the background is simple yet fitting. Anything else to note, the monitor design was cool, I liked that, and I have no speakers so if you have done any music changes, then well I couldn't hear them, sorry.

I'd like to provide my services towards your hack, and maybe write some fitting deformation routines to go with your level's BG designs, just so they'll slice a lot more awesomely, if you'd be happy with me doing this for you, then drop me a PM and I'll work something out.

Sorry, guys but i'll be taking a vacation for a week. I'll be back next Saturday.

I also don't think I can enter the contest. When is it anyway?

And yes, when it comes to Layouts, I can be an evil, precise bastard. MUHAHAHAHA.

Sadly, I haven't done any editing to the Music.

I also am learning ASM. (I might need a teacher)

    However, I have come up with a plot;

    Planet Mobius 1994.

The evil Pig-Headed Darth Hitler Sturm, leader of the Black Hole (from Advance Wars)

has created technology that can cross between worlds. He finds Mobius, and takes over.

Meanwhile, Sonic, is pissed. People are dying. Cities are burning. Sturm threatens to send meteors to the planet.

Terminator Pokemon are freakin' everywhere blowing shit up (one of Black Hole's newest creations).

Sonic vows to find Sturm, and kill him, thus ending the war.

    Like it? :(

Hm.... interesting little hack, though I don't think I share the same feelings through all, like the over joyed markeyjester. I'm shocked, that it got markey wanted to help you, well you've must of done something right. Ok here are my views: I was disapointed over the art been shown and then, when I played ghz I was like, oh.... no new art for ghz.... that upset me. However I think the best art wise was lz, and I agree with markey about the diamond thing, it looks a bit odd but I think sonic should be infront of it. Syz's art was pretty good! however it might just be me but.... it seemed a bit too busy like there was too much going on, so I can't believe I'm saying this but... maybe reducing the amount of things in the bg? how I see it is, I was too distracted by the colourful art and not paying attention to the gameplay if you know what I mean. Mz..... fg not bad but could use some work, I like the bg though.... is it original? I swear I've seen it before...... and I mean the outside not the inside. I like the look of the inside. I kinda rushed through to see the art and thats it cus its late and I'm tired so I'll be going to bed. So I will try and have a proper go at the layouts sometime. Overall your original art is pretty good, maybe tweaks here and there, but hey I never see art to be perfect I always feel there is something you can improve on so it can contiously get better everytime, good work so far :) .

The "Holy Grail" - create custom deformation for new BGs. This is something I'd like to learn about.

afaik, S2's and S1's deformation routines are very different, Sonic 1's manager is much easier to learn, Think it's as simple as having it check for what BG line it is and how fast you want it to scroll.

I am sorry but the layout and object placement just sucks. No balancing between the ring placement, barely any monitors, sometimes cheap placement of stuff. But the art ROCKS! Though its too busy and its hard to tell what is what in this hack, what are those stuff floating in slz background, donuts?

In syz, the circles looked like they were going up and down, nice illusion.

Overall its fine for an art hack. There's always some room for improvement, though.

Gee, guys, thanks for all the feedback i've received.

    But I have a problem...

I've totally revamped SLZ's art. I gotten rid of the Torn World theme for good, added a sunset canyon backdrop,

and made SLZ a little more badass.

I keep improving SLZ, but as I Save and Compile, I don't see the changes I oh-so wish to see.

(Oh, and BTW AnimeMaster, ALL of my art is original.)

EDIT: I'm aware of the missing monitors and loosely placed rings. I like to add them, but unfortunately,

they don't like to show up in the actual level. :)

    Okay, I have a problem.

You know that problem where I keep saving and compiling and none of my edits show up in game?

I cant seem to fix it.

All I did was remove a few chunks in SonED2 from SLZ. Ever since then, i've had this issue.

Meanwhile, I'll show you mah skillz.

    EDIT: Compile problem solved.

Three words for this man, PURE FREAKIN AWESOMENESS! The art looks so much better than the last one on your other release. Looking forward to any other changes that you made. Good luck <_<

What kind of changes won't show? The art, the items, the level layout, ASM changes, all of them?

You may want to check your project file uses the same files as those being compiled (for example compressed vs uncompressed art).

While I'm not sure about your problem, that design is absolutely awesome, much better than what you had before.

I just played this hack seeing every level and it was interesting as well.

GHZ: It plays fun. Very nice layout.

MZ: Looks really cool art wise, and the layout was great.

SYZ: Not bad, but the background, hm... Not much from my likes.

LZ: Imprevissive. Fresh and beautiful design :fresh:

    SLZ: I'm loving that art.

    SBZ: Looks great!

Overall, looking pretty fun and worth to play, and unique designs as well. Very nice work!

As many of you know, unfortunately, Green Hill zone hasn't been edited as of yet.

I've tried editing it but the art edits ended up using the original tiles in game, even though I edited them, thus meaning I can't edit them without doing

something important, but I don't know what. Decompression maybe? ^_^

As for Marble Zone. Art was overhauled. Take a look:

EDIT: Hey, Hanoch, I already merged the art files. I just need to split em'. =)

Update: ASM has become my oyster. =D

I'm on my way to porting my first spindash.

I've also added the 50 ring item box.

Not only that, but now you need 200 rings to get lives!!!

Fabulous, I can see you've put more detail into it this time, once more I love the half dithering/half pure pixel work you've done on the blocks, have you considered giving this level curves and hills for the blocks?

You're sorta in the wrong thread mate.
