    This is the problem, Qjimbo.

    We have two choices:

    1. Downgrade Google Chrome.

    2. Wait for the next GC update.

I'm seeing this problem in my mobile Chrome, too(surfing forum through full version). I'm using Android 4.4.2. Deleted cookies but nothing changed

But actually the letters stop blinking when you log out, it's kinda engrossing.

Now I get the damn issue.  My father just downloaded Google Chrome a couple of days ago and now it's blinking, but only in the lower half of the forums.

<blink>I am <b>so</b> tempted to make a post with "blink" html tags just to be a troll again, but ironically Google Chrome doesn't support the "blink" tag at all :(</blink>

Yeah, the bug still exists and it's getting on my tits.  Recently I've been using IE soley for these forums only.

It doesn't look ilke this is going to be fixed any time soon. Our best bet would probably be just waiting for chrome to update again.

This issue makes the fork's name quite ironic.

Changing the forum theme from "SSRG Clean Cut" to "IP Board" fixes the problem. It seems the problem stands at the animated monitor gifs which Chrome can't handle much gifs in one page. However, the SSRG theme was better in my opinion. :p

Chrome doesn't like animated GIFs, at all. Firefox can handle an animated GIF as favicon, for example, while Chrome will display it as a still frame.

Doing what cryptonymous said seems to have done the trick on my end as well. Still though, wonder why it does it on the clean cut and not the IP theme.

The IP theme doesn't have animated monitors, so there's nothing to cause the glitch.

Can anyone comfirm if a similar glitch happens on any other sites/forums with Chrome with animated gifs?  So far, it's only been these forums for me.

Just for all you Chrome or other WebKit based browser users, there's a more boring version of the default skin. Send your thanks to the inept pricks who code Chrome and to the retards who couldn't find their way out of a paper bag that code the various forks of WebKit. You won't be able to miss it on the theme menu. BTW, I haven't tested it, mainly because I don't use the pile of shit called Chrome. Just saying.

<blink>In the mean time, I'll stop using random animated GIFs as avatars, since I've been told it doesn't exactly help when one of my avatars popped up on the index page as last poster.</blink>

I noticed your random avatars over the past week or so.

I am sorry I was contributing to this issue without even realising it. I should probably end the random avatar month soon.

But I often used animated GIFs, which contributed to the blinking issue, and I didn't realise that until someone privately informed me about that a few hours ago.

This does appear to be a chrome based issue as explained above, as I noticed it again problem yesterday when only my avatar and one of nineko's animated avatars were on screen. (This was after I had clicked on all of the monitors to mark the threads as read.)

I don't really want to change my avatar as it's been the same since forever. I apologise for contributing towards the issue, also.
