The Death Egg Zone palette actually looks that way because, for some fucked up reason, it cycles between its normal palette (which is a lot better than the one I showed, since I took the picture at the wrong time) and a reddish palette. Fixing that would require making Sonic's shoes a greyish color, which would not be a good idea. Actually, a word to the wise: Never, and I mean NEVER, change Sonic's palette, especially his trademark shoes. You'll usually end up fucking up Sonic's palette to the absolute maximum.

Unless, of course, there's a way to edit how DEZ cycles its palette, though if there is, I have no knowledge of it

Why did you make DEZ have a rotating palette? Edit: Actually I think it has some small rotating palettes that I forgot about, but you can just disable them. Either way the level definitely shouldn't be using the first palette line.

Just porting the 3rd and 4th palette line over from S3K's DEZ should make the zone look mostly like it should.

CPZ and DEZ share the same palette cycle by default. So if I were to fix that, I would need a new palette cycle for DEZ.

Uh.. yes, you would. That's usually part of the process when porting something, too. Rule of thumb to remember when porting levels: disable animated/DMA'd art, palette cycles and anything else that is usually very level-specific. Then add all of that back in manually, one at a time and slowly so you don't miss or mess up anything. It really shouldn't be too difficult for palette cycling, either; find the offset table used by the routine and point it to a label just leading to an rts.

If anyone cares, here's the screenshot of my new title screen:

Think you can spot the difference?

    To-do list:

     - Move the text down and waaaaaay over to the left

     - Figure out a way to replace the title screen text with "Sonic 2 Titanium Upgrade"

Why didn't you do that in the first place?  Why are you showing a title screen with the copyright text the only difference?  Why am I here?

Surprisingly, it took me longer to upload this ridiculously big and ridiculously long video to Mediafire than it would to watch the video itself twice. It took THAT long. However, it showcases a lot of the new stuff. They're mainly layout edits, but you may notice a change to Death Egg Zone and the ARZ boss =P

Some stuff was still supposed to be done when I uploaded the video. Mainly, expanding two level x-ends: Creepy Caverns 1 and Death Egg 1. Regardless, the video should explain what I've been doing the past week.

Really, you have to watch the video to fully understand what I'm saying.

An hour and 30 minutes to download, you really need to consider uploading your videos to a video website. Some poeple will not have the time or patience to download it, and if im not mistaken someone has mentioned this to you before.

Recommendations? I can't upload these damn things to Youtube because it won't cooperate with the codec Fusion uses, and like I have stated once before, I'm too impatient of a man to use Gens Rerecording :U

Get a better computer. Or better yet, get an actual mounted recording device. I use the full version of Hypercam and it is just fine. (Mind the fact that it is old.)

Or record in fusion, convert in virtualdub or whatever works for you, and post on youtube or any equivalent.

Don't expect people to be patient for you. We aren't the ones who want to see what you're doing, you're the one who want to show it.

    Anyway...

Just because I want to come back to the interesting stuff from people who actually show stuff without expecting others to be more patient than themselves...

This looks like a great idea, but if I may, I'm not sure about the choice of the sprite. I'd especially really like to see a much bigger sprite on the title screen (and that specific sprite is so overused and out of place...).

Actually, emulators with built-in AVI recording capabilities are FAR superior to any screen recorder, by definition. You get real 60 frames per second, not to mention that the audio isn't mangled by the sound card; also, many people have the horrible habit to distort (or even maximise) their emulator window, fucking up the aspect ratio and/or resulting in videos with stupid resolutions such as 1920×1080 instead of 320×224 (fortunately Kega's window prevents this to some extent).

The fact that Kega's codec is a joke and that he doesn't want to use Gens Rerecording are entirely different problems, but built-in AVI dump > screen recorders. It's a fact. I've been a fan of Camtasia Studio and I used it for all my earlier videos, but once I found out about Gens Rerecording AVI capabilities I never went back.

edit: of course my post is a reply to Mike B Berry, but I'd never quote a post (which was) directly above my one :U

    I think I can understand why :U

    Anyway...

I just tried VirtualDub, and apparently it can't open video files with compression codec "KGV1" (hmm, I wonder what that means :U).

Actually, since we're already off-topic, you should know something. I, too, hate people who quote the post directly above, to the point that I considered to warn you some days ago since you used to do that all the times (I even said that in the irc channel once), but I never did so because there isn't an official rule against that on this forum (while there is one on some other forums I visit). However, when OrdosAlpha posted that, I quickly created a topic in a secret forum area saying that I couldn't agree more with him and that I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who hated that kind of useless quote, and I proposed to turn the aforementioned recommendation into a full official rule. Don't panic, though, my proposal wasn't approved.

So no, you're wrong, it's not that post that made me "stop" quoting in that way. I never even started to begin with. OrdosAlpha and I just happen to share the same idea about it. You know what they say, great minds think alike.

Umm Thomas you did something wrong this recording just has sound, no picture.

Edit: Waitng for Gens to make a video is worth it.

I didn't download his video and I don't plan to, but given what he said you probably need to have the Kega codec installed on your computer, so make sure that you do. If your media player can find the audio codec but can't find the video codec it's expectable to have a result like the one you described (it should still return an error message, though).

(and no, I don't have the Kega codec installed, either)

@TSR: Try virtualdubmod then, although both are working perfectly for me.
